The snow I left behind in Canada | Photo Post

Friday the 13th and the Niagara Region gets hit with its first major snow storm of 2012 and I found myself in a snowy paradise.

I prayed to the snow Gods for every night and day. On the twenty-third day she responded with blinding whiteness.

It was cold, bitter cold, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying natures white wrath of beauty.

The wind billowed its wicked strength though my ancient winter coat as the fat flakes fell gracefully from the grey snow filled sky.

How do you play in the snow, or do you prefer the comforts of a warm fireplace?

Natural Nature

Do you see the natural nature that surrounds you?

The Naked Canadian Tree

The naked Canadian tree
stands tall
waiting for me.

Her branches dance
in the night
waiting for me.

Naked with nothing
swaying at first light
She waits for me.

Canadian Snow

After thirteen days of hoping, wishing and praying, it finally happened. It snowed, in Canada! It was a bright green holiday season and I was hoping to get a good white covering, this morning it happened.

Throwing on my favorite Canadian sweater I stepped outdoors and snapped a few snowy pics. I hope it lasts. A Snowman is in the making.

Just a light dusting, but I’m happier than a Canadian in a canoe.

How do you play with snow?

Canadian Greetings

Greetings from Canada.

Wishing you a safe and happy new year.

Regular postings to resume third week of January. It’s a long holiday back home for My Sardinian Life. I should blog from Canada. I would blog from Canada. I could blog from Canada but little hands are grabbing me, little hearts need hugs and little eyes are shining, waiting for Aunt Jenny to play. For these few precious moments in my life that is all that matters.

Have you spent this holiday season wrapped up in little hands, feeling the love? I’d love to hear your joyous moments from this holiday season.

My Home and Native Land

Where in the world is Jennifer Avventura?

In the land of horseshoes, timbits and drive thru’s.

Oh yes, after 38 months abroad, I’ve come home to surprise my family. And what a wonderful surprise it was. I will never forget their faces when they saw me in that first moment. Priceless.

For lunch today, again, I will be going to Tim Horton’s. Yum! I’m an addict when it comes to Timmy’s. I’ll be having the soup of the day with an everything bagel loaded with cream cheese. Then I will wash it down with a few timbits! Life is grand.

I still haven’t a digital camera, but am working on buying a new one.

My posts for the next month will be infrequent to say the least. But I am still here, hear me ROAR! And I am reading your posts.

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe holiday season.

Happy Holidays from Jennifer Avventura.

A Falls View in Winter

Niagara Falls

Leisure is a form of silence, not noiselessness. It is the silence of contemplation such as occurs when we let our minds rest on a rosebud, a child at play, a Divine mystery, or a waterfall.

The Tailgate Party | Every Fans Delight

Tailgating Buffalo Bills Fans

Tailgate parties are an American pastime. Tailgate parties are an organized social events held around the tailgate (trunk, or boot) of a vehicle. Tailgating more often than not, involves copious amounts of cheap beer barbecued burgers, sausages and hot dogs.

The tailgate party itself, is generally held in the parking lots of major American and Canadian sporting stadiums. It’s the build up to the BIG game: football, soccer, baseball, hockey and basketball.

There are pre-game tailgate parties and post-game tailgate parties. You are a true tailgater, if during the post-game tailgate you are still standing and chanting the teams support song. Continue reading

Chase The Dart | Believe in Dreams

Sometimes in life, you need a dart, a dart board and some courage. The board is there to make the final decision. Your only requirement is to throw the dart.

There are a myriad of options why one never throws the dart. There are limits to our logic. Most of the time we spend holding the dart, afraid to throw it, afraid of what the board will tell us.

I’ve held my dart for far too long. It’s time to let go, time to focus on the dream. Time to travel. The time is now. One way or another a life changing event will unfold. Again.

Throw the dart.

I can’t.

Just do it. It’s not the first time nor will it be the last.

But … but … packing up and moving again. Do I have it in me to culturally, emotionally and spiritually open myself up to a new country … again?

Yes, you can.

The dart flies out of my hand, through the air, swoosh. Eyes closed and heart pounding.

I … can’t … believe … I’m … doing … this … again! I’m nuts! Totally nuts!

The dart lands with a thud, stuck to the plastic map and wall. I can’t move, I won’t move. My new reality is about to unfold, another new beginning is about to start. Oh dear, I’m moving where … ? Continue reading
