My Expat Lives | Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

GRAND CAYMAN. CAYMAN ISLANDS

What a juicy little island Grand Cayman is. On most wall maps you can’t even see her, it’s such a shame. She’s just a wee little speck in the Caribbean and her seven-mile beach is one of the most pristine places these brown eyes have seen.

Seven Mile Beach. Grand Cayman. Cayman Islands.

Perfectly Sunday

Perfectly Sunday

I love Sunday and Stella. This photo was taken on a jaunt to Vancouver in 2007 to see an old friend from Cayman. We’d drunk too much wine at a sexy little olive bar type place one night. Saw this wicked ad for one of my favorite beers and we snapped away. I hope you enjoy a refreshing Sunday. Salute. Cheers.

My all-time favourite place – Bondi Beach

This is a first in a series called:

Favorite Places on the Planet.”

BONDI BEACH. SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

There’s a beach-bum in all of us, but it takes that lounge lizard to find just the right hot spots.  A lizard whom seeks only the ultimate in life’s little pleasures. Because that is why we are all here, right?  If not for the pleasure(s) in life, what is there left to seek?

Bondi Beach. Sydney, Australia. 1997. 21 years old and I was a virgin on the travel beat. I’d traveled domestically and within The United States several times in my young years, but I had never traveled internationally, like over the ocean!

Six months in paradise.

I was very young, and very naïve in Australia, I savoured every moment. My mother asked me several times before I set off on this wicked year of excursions “Well, what are you going to do? Where are you going to sleep? How are you going to eat?” Continue reading

My Love Affair

The new cd arrived.  Finally.  I ordered it on Januray 20th, 2011 and it arrived last monday.  That’s three months land travel for her to finally come knocking on my door.  Florence + the Machine. LUNGS is blowing my effin mind.  Her lyrics are powerfully brilliant and completely whacked out.  Song number seven on the disk Drumming Song is strong with beats and just blows me bloody socks off.  It’s a perfectly orchestrated song with ups and downs, highs and lows.  I feel like I’m on a rollercoaster listening to that song. I’m so in lurve with her strong voice and angst ridden lyrics. There’s nothing like a powerful songstress to bring out emotion and melt ice.  I’ve played my new cd over and over and over, and each time I’m again moved.  It’s quite the orgasmic compilation of songs.

The Sardinian Sea Urchin. A Delicacy.

Sea Urchins are found in the ocean the world over.  They range in size from six to twelve centimeters and come in many different colors.  Red, purple, brown, green and black.  They are spiny round creatures that live in shallow rocky waters.  They move extremely slow on hundreds of tiny tube feet and feed on algae.  Their spines range from one to three centimeters in length, and they use these ferocious spines as a protection barrier against predators. These spiny strange creatures are considered an aphrodisiac and in many parts of the world they are in extreme high demand.

Sardinian Sea Urchin

In many parts of the world the roe (which are the urchins internal ovaries) are a culinary delicacy.  In Japan good roe can cost around $450kg. Continue reading

Forty-One

Ladies and gentlemen it’s burning up in Sardegna this week.  Today’s high 41 degrees celsius (in the sun,) and a nice breezy 27.5 degrees celsius in the shade.  The curtains are drawn the house is clean and the ocean is blue and calm.  It’s difficult to think about writing on daze like this.  Who would want to?  Blue clear skies, singing happy birds and smiles across the faces of the town folk. Another beach day is in order for this afternoon as the heat makes it difficult to even think about anything else.

Are you coming to Sardegna for holidays?  Need questions answered?  Need someone in the ‘know’?  I’m that person, I’m here to make your holidays in Sardegna one of the best and brightest.  Just ask, I don’t bite.

Sun Shining Sardegna

It’s only April 3rd and the sun is shining with fierceness, and the weather is utter sweetness in Sardegna.  High of 35 celsius and the lows are just not important to remember.  If you are planning on visiting Sardegna this summer or any summer for that matter, there are two very important things to remember: Continue reading
