Sunflower Queen

It’s a rainy day in Sardegna today. The skies are filled with grey heavy clouds, the wind barely stirs the tree tops and the animals are content with the cool showers. On days like this I crave the lemon-yellow sun, but knowing she won’t make a grand entrance, I’m content watching my babies Continue reading

A beach birthday in Brazil

Cabo Frio, Rio Di Janeiro, Brazil

Life seems to take on a new meaning for me yearly, around my birthday. And in 2005, for my 30th birthday my good friend and I set out for Brazil. We flew into Sao Paolo direct from Toronto. It was a long 13-hour flight; hot and boring. But being with a good friend made the journey much more pleasant. Her birthday is nine days before mine, this was her first excursion outside of Canada, and she was coming with me; the veteran traveler. Continue reading

Something to Celebrate

Three years ago today I boarded flight #16. Toronto to Rome. From Rome I boarded another flight to my home, Sardegna. I can’t believe three years have already passed. It seems just like yesterday I was kissing my loved ones good-bye. The person I was then is not the same person I am now. I have grown-up. My life far and different from those I left.  Continue reading

A bus trip down the Oodnadatta track – Australia

NORTHERN TERRITORY, AUSTRALIA

Luck was on my side in 1997 when I checked-in for a domestic flight, Cairns to Darwin. One-way.

Passport, please.” Said the pretty little lady dressed in blue polyester.

Hands over the passport. “So, you’re Canadian, eh?”

Um, yeah.” Not giving in, she wanted me to say it. To say, eh. Well, I didn’t.

Would you like to sit in the cockpit for take-off and landing today?”

What the what? What she just say? My body still intoxicated, filled with VB vapours from the beach party the night before.

Yeah, yes. Ok. Wow. Thank you.” Effin almighty, eh!

Northern Territory
