Caldareddu maccu in Sardegna – It’s crazy hot in Sardinia

I’m not complaining, really, I’m not. I’m happy summer is here, I’m happy the sky is blue and the birds are singing their lovely summer songs, but … it’s HOT in Sardinia. So hot in fact that I’m pretty sure I’m melting. So hot in fact, that the winds have pushed the hot African heat our way turning our once lovely veranda into a 35° melting pot.

When the hot burning heat of Africa is upon us, what do we do? Well, for starters we head to the nearest beach and strip down to our birthday bathing suits and take a nice long swim in the waters of the Mediterranean.

The local side of it – Li Feruli, Sardinia, Italy

I’ve written about this stunning stretch of beach many, many times before and yesterday, for the first time in 6 months, I finally got to relive its natural beauty. Li Feruli was left off the list of top beaches in Sardinia that was circulating the social media scene and I’m grateful as I want to keep this gem all to myself.

There was hardly a soul around (with the exception of a pair of nudist) as we made our way to ‘our‘ spot. The cool breeze mixed with the salt air and I reminded myself that I have returned to heaven.

And now, I’d like to remind you, the naked tourist. This stretch of sand is not a designated nudist beach. Personally, I have zero problem if you decide to strip down to your birthday suit but the local authorities may see differently.

If you’d like to get naked in Italy here is a wonderful link with designated nude beaches.

It’s good to be home! It’s good to set foot on Li Feruli, again and again!

The idea for this project came to him on one of his many voyages across the globe. Continue reading

2012 in review – My Sardinian Life

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 100,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Thank you for all the support and encouragement. Here’s to 2013 and blogging bigger and brighter.
