Fridays are full of fantastic photo challenges and Ailsa’s travel theme this week is a beautiful display of silhouette(s).
Want to see my favourite silhouette? Trust me, it’s pretty cool.

These challenges are getting, rather challenging, keep up the great work WordPress. I really had to dig deep this week to find a photo that is wrong. This is what I’ve come up with. “Maybe the “wrong” in your picture … Continue reading
In life, I believe everything happens for a reason.
Why did a brand new, ensign of Canada land in my hands yesterday morning? Coincidence? Fate? A message in a bottle ensign? Or just the sweet generosity of the man who found it?
Our conversation went something like this:
Sweet Man – Boungirono. Ho trovato una bandiera canadese e pensato a te, ti piace?
Me – Oh, buongiorno. Ma, hai trovato una bandiera canadese? Dove?
Sweet Man – In Costa Paradiso. Qualcuno l’ha buttato via.
Me – Perché qualcuno dovrebbe buttarlo fuori? Non e giusto.
Sweet Man – Non lo so, ma vuoi?
Me – Ma, certo. Grazie.
Sweet Man – Io te lo darò a te ora.
Me – Sei molto gentile. Grazie.
Sweet Man – Good Morning. I found a Canadian flag and thought of you. Would you like it?
Me – Oh, good morning. But, you found a Canadian flag? Where?
Sweet Man – In Costa Paradiso. Someone threw it out.
Me – Why would someone throw it out? It’s not right.
Sweet Man – I don’t know, but do you want it?
Me – But, certainly. Thank you.
Sweet Man – I will give it to you now.
Me – You are very kind. Thank you.
And with that, I am now the owner of a brand spanking new Canadian ensign, for a boat that I don’t have.

My good friend DP is at it again, if you remember I posted his photos a few weeks ago of the Transit of Venus (he doesn’t disappoint). Last night he spent the night photographing the Canada Day fireworks over Niagara Falls, Canada, and he did a mighty awesome job. These photos have not been edited by me, I did however add the copyright and his initials. He does deserve the credit. I’m very proud of you DP.
So many Canadians in the streets watching the festivities over one of the most beautiful, natural settings our earth has to offer.
Today is the 145th birthday of one of the best nations in the world – Canada.
Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends and followers. Enjoy your BBQ’s, burgers and beers.
To my home and native land – I salute you!
To my adoptive home land – In bocca al lupo!
Later this evening Italy takes the stage in the grand final of Euro 2012 against Spain. It’s going to be whopper of a game, a nail-biter, an on-the-edge of your seat, play-by-play game … and I’m going to miss it.
In bocca al lupo Italia! Forza Azzuri. It’s your Cup.
Make this Canadian proud to call you home!
How will you be celebrating these two super festivities today? I’ll be at work …
I’m taking part in the HostelBookers 7 Super Shots which started this past January 2012 and has finally made its way around the blogosphere to Sardinia. I secretly watched and hoped that one day I too would be tagged for this travel inspiration series. Last week I was ‘tagged’ by Casey in Colorado who writes a great blog titled: words of a wanderer. Thanks for this great ‘tag’ Casey!
On May 6th 2008, I left my home and native land for Sardinia, Italy.
How is it possible that four years have passed? I can’t believe it! I made the long trip back to Canada several times in the last few years. The time never enough, and some of my family have come to visit us in Sardinia and again, the time was never enough, but the memories will stay forever.
This will be one of my longer posts, so grab a glass of wine, some popcorn or a jar of Nutella. Just get comfortable.
