I’m taking part in the HostelBookers 7 Super Shots which started this past January 2012 and has finally made its way around the blogosphere to Sardinia. I secretly watched and hoped that one day I too would be tagged for this travel inspiration series. Last week I was ‘tagged’ by Casey in Colorado who writes a great blog titled: words of a wanderer. Thanks for this great ‘tag’ Casey!
The Rules:
1. Choose 7 of your own photos, one for each of the following categories:
- A photo that…takes my breath away
- A photo that…makes me laugh or smile
- A photo that…makes me dream
- A photo that…makes me think
- A photo that…makes my mouth water
- A photo that…tells a story
- A photo that…I am most proud of (aka my worthy of National Geographic shot)
2. Write a short description for each image.
3. Write somewhere in your blog post: ‘I am taking part in HostelBookers 7 Super Shots‘.
4. Tell us you have participated and tweet the hashtag #7SuperShots
5. Nominate 5 other bloggers by including a link to their blog in your post. (Now if you’ve followed my blog for sometime you’ll know that I’m kinda tired of tagging other bloggers. I’ve tagged and nominated so many great bloggers in the past that I’ve decided not to tag anyone for this one. You are all wiping your brows in secret relief, I know! However, if you find yourself reading this post consider yourself TAGGED!)
1. Takes my breath away
I snapped this beauty on a walk to St. Antonio in Sardinia, Italy. I’ve photographed this farm-house several times, throughout several seasons and it still takes my breath away.
2. Makes me laugh/smile
Oh! The singing Brazilian: Mr. Satisfaction! What a riot. My girlfriend and I were on our second day in Brazil and found ourselves on the ever popular beach Copacabana. The beach was jammed with tourist, locals and crazy singing Brazilians. Mr. Satisfaction belted out The Rolling Stones “I can’t get no satisfaction,” with suave and off-key grace. The best part was when he sang out: but I tried, and I tried! I can’t get NO, no, no, NO! Che gusto!
3. Makes me dream
I was born a Libra but my soul lies in Aquarius. Since I was a child I dreamed of the ocean, of waves and warm sand. I dreamed of floating in the salty sea water and drifting days away just dreaming. I snapped this photo in Sardinia, Italy at my favourite beach on the island.
4. Makes me think
The tombs of the giants’ is an enormous Sardinian gallery grave. Built during the bronze age by the Nuraghic civilization, it shows the true strength of the Sardinian people during the megalithic period. Popular folklore holds that these tombs were the burial site for giants that once dominated the mountainous lands in western Sardinia. The average Sardinian is small in stature, thus leading archaeologists to believe that these tombs were instead used as a site for massive and multiple burials. Things that make you go hmm, hmm, hmm … (yeah a little C + C Music Factory).
5. Makes my mouth water
Hand crafted gigantic Sardinian pizza fit for a giant makes my mouth water, a lot!
6. Tells a story
Meet Bella, my niece. She didn’t want to come in the house after a long afternoon playing outside on the tire swing. I snapped this photo while my sister was calling in.
7. I am most proud of (aka my National Geographic shot)
The Nuragic Civilization developed during the middle of the Bronze Age (18th-15th centuries BC.) The word nuraghe is perhaps related to the Sardinian word ‘nurra’ meaning heap of stones. There have been no written testimonies of this civilization and most findings have been scientific theories. Only a handful of the 7000 remaining nuraghe have been excavated, leaving an entire nation still in wonder.
Nuraghe Paddaggiu in the province of Sassari, near the town of Castlesardo.
Paddaggiu is local dialect, and means ‘haystack.’ This nuraghe was built with two floors and today only the main floor remains intact.
What are your 7 Super Shots? Did you remember rule #5?

Amazing Shots… the one of your niece is magazine worthy… lovely. She is a cutie!
After the craziness of report card season I may have to do this too 🙂
All great shots, but I’m totally taken by the first one. Yes, it’s breathtaking! I would love to be taking a walk by that farmhouse.
I mentioned your blog in my blog as living vicariously through your travels whenever i read your blogs! I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. The rules are: thank the person who gave you this award, include a link to their blog, post the award image on your site, select several blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. Nominate those bloggers for the same award, finally tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
Thanks for the nomination! 🙂
Beautiful work, Jennifer!
Amazing shots and great job!
Great shots, Jennifer!
Thank you Marcia.
I love this!!! So glad you took part in it 🙂 My favorite is the “makes me think” photograph… the way you captured the tree and blue sky and ‘tombs’ together is just beautiful.
What a great post Jennifer! I love it and find it one of the cooler kinds of blogging awards. Your photo selections are wonderful. I too love the farmhouse shot. I may have to take you up on #5….and just do this challenge! Thanks for sharing!
Go for it! You’ve some fantastic shots, can’t wait! 🙂
I’m with boomereresq – I love the one of your niece. The colours, and her expression, are so vivid.

Ciao Kelly and a super thanks for stopping by! Hope you liked the view! 🙂
Some of your best for sure! Love them all.
Grazie mille. Maybe I should make a picture book!
Great photos! Did the last one actually make it into National Geographic, or are you simply saying it’s NG-like. If the former–that is so, so cool!
Hugs,
Kathy
HA! I wish it made it into NG! That would have been awesome!
