It was an overcast and cold February afternoon when I looked out my living-room window.
The panorama leaves me breathless, always wanting more. The sheep gracefully grazed their afternoon snack while wild boars were secretly and quietly coming out of hiding. It’s not often we get to see a wild boar roaming free in these hilly lands but this day was a Sunday and more often than not they come out on this day just to torture the hunter who tries so skillfully to kill them.
Mom and Pop hung their heads low not sure in which direction the next shot will blow. When the coast was all clear, they gathered their young not knowing were the next hunter might appear.
Delightfully in tow, not one, nor two, not three nor four, not even five could keep this tribe happily revived. There were six in all, following along the safety of mother’s hooves step. They were gone in a flash, deep in the bush leaving but a line of silhouettes.
This is my response to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Threes.
“In a nutshell, a three-picture story is a way to help you think about storytelling with images. To create a three-picture story, gather:
- An establishing shot: a broad photo of your subject.
- A relationship: two elements interacting with one another.
- A detail: a close-up of one part of your subject.”
Wow that view!! I am officially picturing your daily life like a movie.
Ha. I hope it has a happy ending. 🙂
Life is good when you get to see so much of nature and the wildlife too! Great photos and story. We have wild boar here in Danville, CA in the hills. They sometimes come down into the neighborhoods to route out bugs in the lawns of many neighbors!! Has not been a great idea to try and photograph them, they have been known to chase many! !!!! Have a great week! Love your articles! May God Bless!
Love,

what a great pictorial of life there Jennifer….
so now hey….can you go to your settings and allow your posts to be read in full in a reader ??? It makes it so much easier. That is if you want of course. I didn’t used to…until I started using a mobile device sometimes, and it is much better if it is that way for them. Pretty, pretty please with sugar…hehehehehe
Does it still count has a stat hit if someone reads it in the reader?
Hi all: speaking about learning Italian, I’d like to speak with an English speaking friend by Skype (only “audio”, not “video”). I’d like to practice my poor (very poor) English and I’ll help who wants to learn, improve, practice Italian. Let me know, thanks [ Alberto timelife@katamail.com ]
Great response the challenge, Jennifer. Can’t say I have ever seen wild boar in person. Loved the photos.
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
Those pictures tell a lot how Sardinia is so different than the rest of Italy….
Aww, the little piggies are so cute! 🙂
Six?! And how many stripes is that?? 😉
Six stripes too many if they’re runnin’ from a gun! 😉
Aw, they are so cute – who’d want to do them any harm?! Best not think about it…
Nah, they’re too young anyway. 😉
Nothing’s too young to be tasty…
You lucky girl, that view is fabulous. Wild boar trot around outside my in-laws’ place, they scare the pants off me. Smelly dog mistook a male boar for a dog last summer and ran after it, barking. When it charged her, she shut up and made it back to safety in record time! I do like watching them with their little ones in tow.
The little ones are the cutest. Sometimes in the early morning just as I round the curve on my run, I catch a quick glimpse of a baby boar. They are usually off like a flash back to safety net of momma boar. 🙂
The local butcher adopted one last summer – some dope had shot its mum, so he took it home and looked after it. I have a feeling it’s ended up in a ragoût since, though 😦
Oh for sure! Have you tried the ragout?
(MM hangs head in shame). I love eating boar stew. Do you still love me? 😦
Haha. Yes, I do. What you decide to put into your body is none of my business, I like you just the same. I don’t like the taste of boar meat, it’s too gamey for me. I have made boar stew for my husband however, smells great … maybe one day. 🙂
