Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia
In 1997 I journeyed all the way to Australia. This photo was taken on Fraser Island, just off the coast of Queensland. We spent four days journeying around the largest sand island in the world.
It was spectacular! And I can’t wait to do it again.
I love you Australia, you are forever in my heart.
These photos are not the best. I was 20 years old and had no clue about cameras. And I’m pretty sure digital cameras didn’t exist then. I remember clearly carrying around dozens of film tubes, taking them for printing, waiting a week, sometimes longer.
Have you been to Fraser Island? Tell me your story.
wow! what an amazing contrast of a spectacular sky and a golden sand below, balanced by the calm waters of the sea…breathtaking my friend.
I’m touched … really … almost speechless, thank you.

Thank you! I loved it there!
Really liked these. Especially the first one!
Stunning photographs. Excellent photography. Very nice interpretation of this week’s theme. 🙂
Thank you kindly.
I was in Australia in 1998 and have been trying to get back ever since. I was on a tour and we spent a few days on Fraser Island. A few guys wanted to see dingos, and this was the place they were told. That night they went in search of the dingo only for the dog to wander through the restaraunt! They thought we were joking when we told them. Later they missed them again as we waited for the little shuttle to take us to the main loding area… they got tired of waiting and decided to walk on ahead. Low and behold the dingo made yet another apperance as it ran down the road. Again they thought we were making it up. How could this happen to them? We all got to see the dingos and all they saw were a few paw prints in the sand. They wanted to see them SOOOO bad and we were not on a quest in search of them. I felt bad for them as this was on their bucket list, but it makes a good story and still makes me giggle…
Great shots btw… colours on film are way better.
Thanks for the great dingo comment! I managed to snap a pic of one dingo just as we were leaving the island. It was a great time there, I would love to go back.
Yippee! She loves us!! *BIG GRIN*
I do, I really do! 🙂
A nice piece of serendipity – I hop in to check out your (great) blog and find out who you are and what do I see – your pictures of Fraser Island under that looming storm. Fantastic. Im not really a Queenslander, but I spent ten or eleven years living just south of the Island (on the Sunshine Coast) just prior to coming here to Sri Lanka. Your shots whispered nostalgic thoughts in my ear (I’m almost ready to hear):)
It’s so great to see film again! I love the grain in the shots
Fraser Island is a great spot. I haven’t been there in years.
I think your pics are great! I have not been to that part of Australia before but do love it Down Under!
Stunning sky images!
Thank you! Considering I had no idea (at the time) what I was doing!
